Chandler AZ Interior Detail Case Study

Orange Chevy Interior Detail Before and After at Our Chandler Shop

Detail tech Johnathan Trimborn reset the cabin on an orange Chevy at our Frye Road shop on August 7, 2026. Here is what changed and what it cost.

Quick Answer

On August 7, 2026, South Mountain Auto Detail technician Johnathan Trimborn performed a full interior detail on an orange Chevy at our shop in Chandler, Arizona. The job covered a deep vacuum, carpet and upholstery shampoo, steam cleaning, panel and console cleaning, and streak free glass. An interior detail for a car costs $165 at our Chandler shop or $185 if we come to you.

The owner dropped the car off with the kind of buildup every Chandler commuter recognizes. Fine desert dust in the vents and seams, sun baked film on the dash and door panels, crumbs and grit worked deep into the carpet, and cup holders that had been collecting since spring.

Johnathan took it from there. The photo below shows the same cabin before and after.

What Does an Interior Detail Actually Fix on a Daily Driver?

An interior detail is a deep clean and reset of the cabin. It is not a vacuum and a wipe down. On this Chevy, the work targeted the things a quick clean never reaches.

  • Ground in carpet soil that a household vacuum pulls the top layer off and leaves the rest
  • Upholstery stains from drinks, food, and sweat that settle below the surface fibers
  • Dust packed into vent slats, seat rails, seat belt tracks, and trim seams
  • Cloudy film on the dash, door cards, and console left by heat and plastic off gassing
  • Sticky residue in cup holders, door pockets, and the center storage bin
  • Interior glass haze that makes morning and evening sun glare worse than it needs to be

The finished cabin looked closer to how the car left the lot than how it looked that morning. That is the whole point of the service. Our interior detailing service page walks through the full package if you want the line by line list.

How Much Does an Interior Detail Cost in Chandler, AZ?

For a car, interior detailing is priced two ways depending on where the work happens.

Interior Detail, Car, At Our Chandler Shop $165
Interior Detail, Car, Mobile To You $185

The $20 difference covers bringing the mobile unit, water, filtration, and power to your location. SUVs, vans, and larger trucks price higher because there is more square footage of carpet and upholstery to work through. Pet hair removal is a separate add on that starts at $65, and it is priced by condition because light shedding and a fully coated back seat are very different jobs.

What Did Johnathan Do on This Orange Chevy?

Johnathan Trimborn ran the job at our Frye Road shop. Working indoors under controlled lighting means every panel gets inspected properly instead of guessed at in glare. Here is the order he followed.

  • Removed floor mats and personal items, then set them aside for separate treatment
  • Compressed air through vents, seams, and seat rails to lift dust before any liquid touched it
  • Full vacuum of carpets, seats, cargo area, under the seats, and along the seat tracks
  • Pre treated stains on the carpet and upholstery, then agitated with the right brush for each surface
  • Shampooed and extracted carpets, mats, and cloth seating
  • Steam cleaned the tougher spots, cup holders, and hard to reach seams
  • Cleaned and protected the dash, console, door panels, and vinyl trim
  • Wiped door jambs, sills, and the areas people brush against getting in and out
  • Cleaned interior glass and mirrors last so the finish stayed streak free
  • Final walk through with fresh eyes before the keys went back

Interior work on a car generally runs one to three hours depending on condition. Heavy staining, sand, or pet hair pushes it toward the top of that range.

Why Does Arizona Heat Make Interior Detailing Harder?

Chandler summers work against a car interior in ways drivers in cooler states never deal with. Cabin temperatures climb well past outside air in a parked car, and that heat does three things at once.

It bakes spills into fabric fast, so a coffee splash that would blot out in a mild climate sets into the fibers within hours. It dries and cracks vinyl, leather, and dash plastics through sustained UV exposure. It also accelerates off gassing, which is what leaves that hazy film on the inside of the windshield.

Dust makes it worse. Monsoon season pushes fine particulate into every gap in the cabin, and it settles into vents and seams where a vacuum nozzle cannot follow. That is why our interior process starts with air rather than water.

The same sun that attacks the cabin is working on the paint outside. Our guide on protecting your car paint from the Arizona sun covers the exterior half of the problem, including where ceramic coating fits in.

Should You Bring the Car to the Shop or Book Mobile?

Both get the same standard of work. The choice comes down to your schedule and the condition of the vehicle.

Bring it to the Chandler shop when

  • The interior needs heavy extraction, deep stain work, or odor treatment
  • You want controlled lighting and climate for the most thorough result
  • You can drop the car and handle errands or work nearby

Book mobile when

  • You cannot spare the drive time or you are working through the day
  • The car sits at an office lot, home driveway, or job site anyway
  • Multiple vehicles at one address need service in the same visit

Our Chandler auto detailing page covers both options, and you can see the full menu on our auto detailing services list.

How Often Should a Chandler Driver Get an Interior Detail?

Plan on an interior detail every three to four months for a daily driver that parks outside. Garage kept cars can stretch to every five or six months. Vehicles carrying kids, pets, or job site gear usually need it sooner, closer to every two or three months.

Sun exposure and cabin traffic drive the schedule more than mileage does. A car that bakes in an uncovered lot from morning to evening takes more interior damage than a weekend car with three times the miles.

Between visits, keeping a sunshade in the windshield and knocking out spills the same day makes the biggest difference. If you want the outside handled at the same time, look at our exterior detailing or bundle it into a full detail.

FAQ: Interior Auto Detailing in Chandler, AZ

How much is an interior detail for a car in Chandler, AZ?

An interior detail for a car is $165 at the South Mountain Auto Detail shop in Chandler and $185 for mobile service at your home, office, or job site. SUVs, vans, and larger trucks price higher. Pet hair removal starts at $65 as an add on.

What is included in an interior detail?

A full interior vacuum, carpet and upholstery shampoo with extraction, steam cleaning on tough spots, cleaning and protection of the dash, console, door panels, and vinyl trim, door jamb wipe down, and streak free interior glass. Leather surfaces are cleaned and conditioned where applicable.

How long does an interior detail take?

One to three hours for a car depending on size and condition. Heavy staining, sand, spilled drinks, or pet hair push the job toward the longer end. We give a time estimate when you book so it fits your day.

Where is the South Mountain Auto Detail shop located?

Our shop is at 6505 W Frye Rd, Chandler, AZ 85226, in the Frye Road business park. In shop detailing is by appointment, which gives us controlled lighting and climate for deep interior work, paint correction, and coating prep.

Can you remove set in stains and odors from car seats?

Most of the time, yes. We pre treat, agitate, shampoo, and extract, then follow with steam on stubborn areas. Results depend on the stain type, how long it has been there, and the fabric. Arizona heat sets stains faster, so the sooner you book after a spill, the better the outcome.

Is shop interior detailing better than mobile interior detailing?

For standard interior detailing, both deliver the same result. The shop has an edge on heavy extraction, deep odor work, and anything that benefits from controlled lighting and climate. Mobile wins on convenience when you cannot give up the drive time.

Do you detail cars other than Chevy models?

Yes. We detail cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and fleet vehicles of every make across Chandler, Ahwatukee, Tempe, Gilbert, Phoenix, Ocotillo, and Sun Lakes. Package pricing is based on vehicle size and condition rather than brand.

How often should I get an interior detail in Chandler?

Every three to four months for a daily driver parked outside. Garage kept vehicles can go five or six months. Cars carrying kids, pets, or work gear usually need it every two to three months to stay ahead of buildup.
